MATT DEIGHTON (Mother Earth) & CHRIS DIFFORD (Squeeze)
+ DR ROBERT (Blow Monkeys)
Album launch for co-written "Kids Steal Feelings"
2017 will finally see the reemergence of British folk’s most enigmatic lost son. You may recognize Matt Deighton from his time fronting Acid Jazz heroes Mother Earth; you may remember him as Paul Weller’s guitarist in the late 90’s, or Noel Gallagher’s recommendation for who should replace him when he quit the Oasis European tour in 2000.
Squeeze founder and co-writer Chris Difford has penned some of the finest songs of the past 30 years - "Is that Love?", "Labelled with Love", "Another Nail in my Heart", "Take me I'm Yours", "Cool for Cats", "Up the Junction"...the list goes on.
Tonight is the launch of the "Lost" album co-written with Chris Difford of Squeeze. Comparisons to Nick Drake, John Martyn & Davey Graham are not wide of the mark. This will be a night of music from the "Kids Steal Feelings" album along with songs from both artists extensive back catalogue.
Limited availability - book early
Always a political pop star in a deeply divisive era, he duetted with the late great Curtis Mayfield on the Thatcher baiting “Celebrate (The Day After You)”, subsequently banned by the BBC, and the band featured heavily in the Red Wedge tour of 87'. In 2008, The Blow Monkeys reformed with all four original members and set a prolific schedule releasing four brand new albums, a box set and a live album in the last six years.
